HAVE YOU JOURNALED ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS MINDSET TODAY?

To properly establish, maintain and build your online business you need to develop a business mindset. A business mindset allows you to make multiple decisions, experiment with ideas, evaluate actions, confirm ideas that work, reject ideas that don’t work, affirm your successes and start the cycle over, as you continue to run your business.
Every business owner has strengths and weaknesses in their business mindset. Weaknesses can become problematic when you face different situations during the course of your business. For example, an owner who is anxious about promoting herself in front of others, will have to work harder to overcome that weakness. However, an owner who is comfortable with people, may have trouble completing a project when working alone, because of lack of stimulation and company. Another business owner may need help in developing verbal expression skills, or another owner may need help with arriving with becoming more prompt.. All of these examples, involve potential business mindset changes. If left unattended, each of these issues can result in problems leading to loss of business and revenue.
How do you develop a business mindset? Journaling is one habit that online business owners can use to help encourage business mindset changes. Why? Journaling is accessible, easy to customize, usually portable and applicable to any situation at anytime.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
A journal and pen or portable computer (desktop or laptop)
An online business situation that needs your attention
From five to thirty minutes time to compose an initial entry about your situation
From five to fifteen minutes to reflect on the entry you’ve just written.
How do you write business mindset entry?
–Choose a situation that needs attention
–Describe the situation in twenty five words or less.
–Highlight your three main concerns (areas needing immediate attention)
–Focus on the most pressing concern first
(1) Describe the concern
(2) Write emotional phrases that may be attached to it
(3) List all possible solutions (brainstorm but do not edit, make sure to include everything that you could potentially do to solve the problem)
–Read through the entry you have just written.
–Narrow your choice to the most practical solution
–Apply the solution
–Observe how well the solution works. Observe how it doesn’t work.
–Take a break
–Review your previous list
–Narrow you choice to a new solution and repeat the cycle.
As you continue to apply this list, you will become more comfortable using journaling to help facilitate business mindset changes.

Lael, Thank you for posting this valuable information. So often as we are running our business, our heads are filled with too much information and we may “think” we know what we are writing but when reviewed, it just doesn’t make sense. That is a great way to avoid becoming “blocked” and it is also a great way to make sure you are truly writing what you think and explaining everything in a clear concise manner. Great job!
