Lost in a mine field of Resources, Tips and emails…..
hymagI wonder who else’s computer looks like mine - a minefield of files of resources that would cover the whole African Continent. I need a guide to help me find my way through all of these without setting off one of the “browsing” and “time wasting” mines.
Don’t get lost in the maze of Skype Rooms.
First task of the morning is to check the skype rooms…this in itself can be a jungle with tentacles growing from every corner, ready to pull me into a zone of lost hours. I have disciplined myself - well mostly - to do a quick browse of the most important ones, and leave the rest for later.
Your Inbox is another set of mines!!
Second comes my inbox. This is full of more traps that I should avoid, but who can ignore the juicy carrots dangling under your nose. “Look at this new ….., and it is FREE”. I know I can use it one day, so I will save it in the minefield with all the others that I saved over the years. Needless to say, there are very few that I have EVER gone back to!! I have files and files of Resources, Tips and other information that I have saved and kept for years with the intention of studying them “ONE DAY”.
Unfortunately that “ONE DAY” seldom comes. I don’t even remember what I have saved…most of the time I don’t read the email properly. When I see it is about a subject I may want to study later, I simply save it.
Problem is….when I DO go back to read one of the many files, I get completely lost in it and when I see again the morning, or even the whole day is gone, and all I did was read and read without any constructive action. I set off one of the mines and got caught.
I unsubscribe regularly, but they never seem to stop. If I receive 100 emails today, and unsubscribe to 20, I will receive 100 again tomorrow. The emails are like monsters finding you no matter how hard you try and hide.
I have got into a habit with emails to look for the names that I know I want to read, and the rest are deleted VERY FAST without even a glance.
One day I WILL beat the emails!!
I believe, yes, I HAVE to believe that the day will come when I will only receive a very minimal number of emails. When I can honestly read all my emails instead of deleting 95% of them
Here you can find some good tips and information.

WOW, I can certainly relate to that jungle! When you determine the best way to find your way OUT of there, do let me know. Overwhelm with email is very addictive! I am constantly unsubscribing and then suddenly a whole new set of skills are being promoted, and bam, I’m hooked again!
Best of luck to you!
