What Kind of Internet Junkie Are You?

I am always on the computer. On a typical morning, I’ll log into my favorite Chicago radio station streaming in the background (I live in Wisconsin), while logging into 3 chat rooms with my Skype (instant messaging), check my multiple email and networking accounts and check my website stats. I thought I was quite savvy on the internet until all the tools I’ve learned from “my friends in the box” (Skype). I’ve only just begun with the ever growing social networking, which intrigues me. From blogging to microblogging, LinkedIn to Myspace, and AOL IM to Skype. This internet is mind-blowing.
I think I’ve got four fun ways of categorizing internet users, with BIG gaps for you to fill in.
Advanced – Not only do you have all of the items I talked about above, but you are involved with video and have all the tools for ranking your pages. You are a blogger (socially or business), you’ve got accounts to multiple networking groups and you are very active in all of them. You Twitter and have shortcuts to all the technology that makes your technology run better. Twirl is one example of using Twitter better. You might run or participate in a Blog Talk Radio show. Major networker.
Intermediate – This person probably has some websites that they visit regularly, a forum, group or industry related website. You know what Googling is and might have a retail store online. However, as much as you thought you knew, you are discovering things out there that you’ve heard of but don’t know what they are, such as Digg and del.icio.us.
Beginner – Basically this group just turns on the computer to check email. Knows the internet is out there but is afraid, very afraid. The only way these users get into the wide world web is if they have a link in an email.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME – ok, I’m over-reacting with this bunch but these are the folks that check their emails once every couple of weeks (not days, weeks) I know, I can’t imagine but they exist.
This Internet is mind-blowing. I am always curious how others use the Internet, so tell me what’s a typical day for you?

Gulp did you base the first group on me? Chuckle.
My typical day is to spend 6- 10 hours in front of the computer. When my kids are at their dad’s, I spend even more time and often talk to my kids via messenger. How sad am I?
Not at all!
Guilty as charged - all of the above! My typical day involves at least 6-8 hours on the PC (keeps me locked in one place) and then about 2-3 hours on my laptop while watching TV with my husband in the evenings.
I love the internet life - participating in the forums, meeting new people, finding out what they like and don’t like, what they need, finding ways to connect them, oh my, the list could go on and on.
Having said all that, being online is a constant source of education for me. Many, many online friends and acquaintances are willing to share their time and talents to help me learn some new skills, which I am entirely grateful to have available to me!
So, does that make me an internet junkie? Yep, it does - guilty as charged!
I am somewhere in between the first two. I belong to most of the groups you mentioned but have not become active in all of them, and am not sure that I will.
It feels like I’m spread much too thin when I become involved in too many places.
Let’s say I’m in between the Advanced and Intermediate group, but probably closer to the Advanced one. I spend my life in front of my computer, and a lot of it on the Internet…
