I am passionate about helping people to meet their goals and challenges. If it is hard to do, then it is even more satisfying when you reach that goal. My husband and I took this photo of the giraffes at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in Disneyworld. They are beautiful and signify a wonderful relationship in my mind.
Weight loss is a big one for a lot of us. I just reached my 50 pound weight loss goal when I was weighed today. How cool is that! I am not done, but that is a pretty amazing intermediate goal to reach.
We all need support. No matter how grown up and strong and professional we are, we always need to know that there is someone to trust with our inner thoughts. Yes, we are grown ups. We still need to be able to let our guard down and work out our thoughts, feelings, fears, and insecurities. Some of us can do that with our spouse or best friend. Some can do it with a mentor, coach, or therapist. Be careful when expressing your fears and insecurities to someone at work, it may be better to confide in someone outside of your work world.
The major things that balance our life and keep us healthy are also part of the success formula for everything personal and professional. Be healthy, eat fresh balanced food every day, drink plenty of water, get enough rest, and work out. Take a walk, and your life seems better and less stressed.
Sometimes, we have habits, behaviors and patterns that we have not been able to break by ourselves. If you have issues with rage, drinking, drugs, and other destructive challenges in your life that can hurt you or others - get help as soon as possible. There is always someone safe that can guide you in the right direction.
If you have less severe challenges, there are wonderful ways of making the change. Hypnosis, NLP, EFT and other techniques are great ways to actually shift your feelings and behaviors. I have found a combination of therapies to be the most effective. I have worked with hundreds of clients who have changed their patterns, met their goals, and have slayed their “dragons”!

Whatever your issue, challenge, or goal. You Can Do It!!

You are so right, Dr. Sally. With a made up mind and the right support system the sky is the limit. I’m amazing myself more and more every day.
How wonderful that you were able to reach a 50 pound weight loss. Right now I would love to be able to follow your path- I recognize that I get in my own way. It is funny, however, that when I keep myself physically active I crave sweets less! Right now I just try to stay as healthy as I can. Hopefully, I will be able to post that I have lost 50 pounds!
I think most people understand the practical concepts of weight loss - burning off more calories than you eat. What’s frustrating is the huge industry that has evolved (the diet industry) that downplays the mental aspects of weight loss (motivation, will power) and overstates the physical aspects (various crazy diets like eating only fruit, or low-carb diets etc). For sure, support (from friends, family, professionals) greatly helps with the motivation and will power.
The problem today is life is it’s easy to find a comfort zone and live in it. Despite all the talk of credit crisis, life is still a lot easier than it has been for previous generations who had to use their wit, skill and courage to the max to just survive. Now many have forgotten how to survive like this as we life so comfortably. Progress is a double-edged sword.
Congratulations on your weight loss - hope you have kept it off and still in good shape! I have also lost some weight through stopping drinking alcohol and drinking more water, and WALKING. Walking is fantastic exercise. After about 20 minutes of walking I feel in a “zone” and really feel my body relax and loosen up.
